Saltwater is the most common way Australian pools are sanitised, and for good reason: it keeps the water clean and feels gentler than a pool dosed with liquid chlorine. The system itself is straightforward. A modest amount of pool salt is dissolved in the water, and a salt-chlorinator cell passes a low electrical current through it to split the salt and generate chlorine on site, continuously, as the water circulates.
